K-89 (Kansas highway) : ウィキペディア英語版
K-89 (Kansas highway)

K-89, (locally posted as the Hertzler Memorial Highway) is a 1.5-mile〔 (2.4 km) spur in Harvey County, Kansas, U.S. It runs from US-50 nine miles (14 km) west of Newton, to the Halstead city limits at the Little Arkansas River bridge. The road continues south as Main Street through Halstead. At the southern terminus is Riverside Park, which was a site of the filming of the 1955 movie ''Picnic''.
Halstead is prone to periodic flooding from the Little Arkansas River, so a flood gate, which can close the road, is located at the southern terminus of the state route at the end of the bridge.
The road is named after Dr. Arthur E. Hertzler, the "Horse and Buggy Doctor," who helped establish the now-defunct Hertzler Clinic and Halstead Hospital.
==History==
K-89 was commissioned by 1941.〔 It first appeared on the January 1938 state highway map.〔(Kansas Department of Transportation: Historic State Maps )〕
